Lack of accuracy and citations
editThis page has no references to external lists. Also, several of the early chairmen are listed as "Republicans", from a time before the modern Republican Party existed. Those chairmen would probably have been (though there are no citations here) members of the group now known as the Democratic-Republican Party, whose members generally called themselves "Republicans", but which was defunct by the 1820's.

- This wasn't really very hard to check out. The Senate's website has a list of all chairmen of all standing committees ever, and this list is obviously derived from that. john k (talk) 01:38, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- ETA - obviously also written by me, 8 years ago, it would appear. At any rate, it was obvious that "republican" meant "Democratic-Republican," and you could have changed the links yourself instead of adding a disputed tag when this article was perfectly factual, and could easily be checked against reliable sources. Certainly I should have included the reference when I created the article, but a "disputed" tag should really only go up when somebody has reason to actually think the article is substantially factually incorrect, but doesn't know how to correct it. john k (talk) 01:40, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
