A working definition

Universal mind may be defined as the nonlocal and atemporal "hive mind" of all aggregates, components, constituents, relationships, personalities, entities, technologies, processes and cycles of the Universe.

The aforecited is not sourced from printed material and therefore contravenes prevailing Wikipedia Policy but I would appreciate that its sentiment be written in within future iterations of this article.

Universal consciousness

There is a conversation at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2011 September 21#Universal consciousness about changing that redirect to point to this article. As someone unfamiliar with any of these terms, I'd appreciate if editors of this article would weigh in on whether they think this would be appropriate of if a different course of action would be more appropriate. —mako๛ 15:08, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Doesn't cite sources

Although there are references listed at the bottom of the page, they aren't cited in the article. There's no evidence that this is not just a term that someone on the internet cooked up, and then wrote about here in the spirit of self-promotion. At the same time, I think the concept is philosophically grounded in the Hindu notion of Brahman, particularly if we look at the Advaita Vedanta school. Arided (talk) 11:54, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Redirection of the search for the words "Universal Consciousness."

A "note" can be made in the (proper) Page for "Universal Consciousness" (NOT redirected to "Universal Mind") that the "musical album by that title is redirected to the "performers" "Page" (as being one of her productions). - An appropriate redirection.

Being "redirected" to her album page is a HUGE misrepresentation of the intention of Wiki.- (Of course, in my judgment.) - - -

The "term" "Universal Mind" (IMO) is a naive misrepresentation of the idea (notion) (concept) of Universal Consciousness. - - - The word "Mind" is already totally loaded with "human consciousness" implications, which are quite inadequate to understanding of Universal Consciousness. - For example, a "raindrop" could hardly be considered as having a "Mind." - Still, it "knows" where the earth is. - It "knows" when to "fall." - Thus, in my view, it has a "kind" of awareness (knowledge, understanding) of what it "does." - I would refer to this "awareness" or "knowledge" or "understanding" as being an aspect of Universal Consciousness (which is not, i guess, commonly considered by many people). - That should be part of the "point" of consideration regarding the topic.

A "mealy" bug (and all of the "organic" world) functions with different kinds (modes) of consciousness (awareness, etc), - But they would not (reasonably) be said to have "Minds."

Thus, my view is that the redirection is totally inappropriate (and "wrong").

Include Indian philosophy?
