Klabat University → Universitas Klabat – The proposed name change from "Klabat University" to "Universitas Klabat" is necessary to align with the official name used by the institution in all formal and legal contexts. "Universitas Klabat" is the recognized and registered name in Indonesia, reflecting its identity and adherence to national naming conventions for higher education institutions. • Comment. @Unklabwebmaster: Welcome to Wikipedia. As a heads-up, though, you've phrased your move request in a way that is not very convincing. Wikipedia is not the PR department of this university, so it's really not our problem to "better represent the university's official branding and communication." And telling people to do it for that reason is more likely to annoy them. What you will want to do is perform a WP:COMMONNAME analysis instead. How do English-langauge sources (not Indonesian or Malay-language sources) refer to the University, such as newspaper articles or mentions in books? Do you have some sample links? That would be much more helpful to decide the matter. SnowFire (talk) 18:19, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
  • Weak support. A simple Google test for "Klabat University -wikipedia" and "Universitas Klabat -wikipedia" has 5x the hits for the latter. This isn't a particularly deep analysis, but given that the university's website itself uses "Universitas", and that this is Latin rather than Indonesian, suggests not translating it. • Against the person who is asking for the name change is violating Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest, they work at this university. Catfurball (talk) 18:20, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
  • @Catfurball: I agree that the stated reason is ineffective and unconvincing, but note that Unklabwebmaster is a Wikipedia newbie, so this shouldn't exactly be held too much against them. A proposal can be correct but for different reasons than stated. Even if Unklabwebmaster's !vote is entirely discarded, per above, I think there is a COMMONNAME case for the move regardless. • Support. On Google Scholar search, I get "about 951 results" for "Universitas Klabat" (with quotes) and 203 for "Klabat University". Which, like SnowFire says, is not a deep analysis, but I'm not sure what is the affirmative case in favour of Klabat University. Adumbrativus (talk) 00:49, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
