Season 15 Finals Table
editThis table seemed redundant because it's covered in the episode list. If anyone disagrees here is what I cut out:
Finals
editSemifinals | Final | ||
---|---|---|---|
Auckland | 300 | Canterbury | 210 |
Otago | 120 | ||
Canterbury | 220 | Auckland | 155 |
Victoria | 190 |
Results from original series
editThis is tricky, since it potentially could fall under the heading of original research and certainly will be nigh on impossible to reference. I am James Dignan, a member of the 1984 winning team and coach of the Otago team in the following few years. During that time I was employed by TVNZ to research the history of University Challenge, in particular contestants and results from early series, working alongside the show's director, Brian Stewart. A lot of the information was lost - possible for good - but I managed to find out a lot of the information, which I still have on file, and will add into this article as time allows. As far as I know, TVNZ never did anything with my researches (the series was canned not that long after I completed the research), so none of the results are from published sources, other than the newspapers, magazines, and scant TVNAZ archives which I went through 20 years ago (and which, now, it would be impossible for me to recall the names of). As such, providing a published, verifiable source for the results at this remove may prove to be impossible, thougyh it's plausible that several of the episodes exist on YouTube or elsewhere online. - Series 14 results don't look right. I don't remember us (Auckland) losing in the heats let alone getting thrashed. We actually "won" the final before it was discovered that (another) question was incorrect and the final third of the show was reshot. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 09:33, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'll double check that. I've still got videotapes of the '88 and '89. I can remember half of a final being re-shot though (I was in the audience with the teams and other coaches) - it was a cruel thing to have to do to any team. So... Holroyd, Hassall, Gyde, or Hosking :)? Grutness...wha? 01:16, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- Well, the videotape confirms the scores. Here the final scoreboard from that Auckland low score... Grutness...wha? 06:02, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- I must have blocked the trauma from my mind! DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 06:03, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
