The climactic paragraph is not really neutral enough (even if true!): Despite the challenges facing higher education in the 1990s, The University of Toledo marked its 125th year as an amazing success story. The institution grew from a small, private arts and trades school to become a large state-assisted university. Many of its faculty and academic programs have worldwide reputations, and its campus is an architectural gem. Someone might want to tone that down a bit. Chick Bowen 23:24, 17 September 2005 (UTC)

copyrighted material removed

I've removed all of the material that was added by an anonymous editor, User:131.183.82.32, which was taken from the University of Toledo website and must be assumed to be under copyright. Chick Bowen 04:51, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

This article needs a lot of work. The recognition section is full of unsourced questionable material, is one long, jumbled and unreadable paragraph and looks as though it was cut and pasted directly from the university's website. I'm going to wait a week for some of the editors working on this page to clean it up; otherwise, I'll remove it.

Also the endowment figure has been grossly overstsated at 300 million. I've adjusted it to the 128 million that both the NACUBO report and the university's own foundation's annual report place it. --Sam Harmon 19:14, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Advert-tone problems

The entire section titled "National recognition" has problems: since it amounts to a collection of PR/advertising claims by the university (and a thorough collection, at that), it requires equally thorough citation. I am not saying that the claims can't stand, but given the response to other articles, this section requires a detailed number of citation to current available data. Reads Like an Advertisement

In one of those (to me) sad moments

when I am reminded that wikipedia is not about "the truth" but is about what can be referenced, I decided to remove the following section pending further action. Most of this section is NOT covered in the reference given. It sounds like the voice of unhappy experience, probably true, but . . ....

In 2012, its Sexual Assault Education and Prevention Program was cut. Currently, the University of Toledo does not have a certified or experienced advocate, who can inform students about their rights and actions they can take after their sexual assault. Students who experience sexual assault are referred to the Counseling Center, which lacks comprehensive training for counselors when dealing with sexual assault cases. The University claims that the program still exists in its entirety, but if one were to call the number attached to the said program, one would get a random person's voice mail, who isn't even properly trained as an advocate and will just send students to campus Counseling Center. Year of name change

Got this in an OTRS e-mail from an alumnus of the University. Leaving it here for more knowledgeable editors to comment and take action:

"The entry implies that the University did not change its name until 1967 when it became a state subsidized institution. It is a common misconception that unfortunately is cited as fact because of this erroneous entry. I have never edited a Wikipedia entry nor do I desire to do so, but wish that someone would change the content to accurately reflect the University's name change by the Board of Trustees in 1941 as cited in the link to a newspaper (The Blade) article by the then UT President in January, 1988."
