Move

edit

Since this waterfall is technically called "Upper Whitewater Falls", I have created a disambig page and have moved this page to "Upper Whitewater Falls". 5minutes 19:28, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Other Waterfalls are taller

edit

Crabtree Falls, Virginia - 305 m (100 ft) has the title of tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Other waterfalls are also taller:

There's actually some debate over how to classify the "tallest" waterfalls. There's actually very little solid definition as to what "officially" constitutes a waterfall. While some falls are very obvious (such as Niagara), others are a bit iffier as to whether you'd consider them an "official" waterfall. In this article, I've listed Corbin Creek Falls - a 600 ft. + series of cascades right in the Whitewater Falls area. Glassmine Falls in Buncombe County (viewable from the Blue Ridge Parkway) has a sign posted that identifies it as an 800 ft. falls. As there is such debate, I've removed some of the language regarding Whitewater Falls' "official" status. I've also removed the statement about it being the highest falls visible from one location because A) Glassmine is visible from one location; and B) Whitewater Falls isn't. The viewing platforms allow you to see MUCH of the falls, but not nearly all of them. 5minutes 17:48, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
