History of the Name
editJust wondering, if Urchfont was once Erchesfont or Archesfont and other such spellings, if this name might have the same source as Orcheston parish and village to the south of Urchfont. One was Orch's/Erch's/Arch's Tun/Town and the other was Orch's/Erch's/Arch's Font/Fountain. This would imply a common origin in the name of a Celtic or Anglo-Saxon overlord at both sites or possibly a river which rises at the Font and then flows downstream to the Tun? 76.71.21.165 (talk) 12:01, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
