Utah Central Railroad/Railway

This page (Utah Central Railway) is tagged as a disambiguation page for clean-up. It breaks dab page rules in a number of ways. The current entries are:

• Utah Central Railroad (1869–81), south from Ogden to Salt Lake City; later part of the Union Pacific Railroad
• Utah Central Railway (1881–89), successor to the 1869 company, south from Ogden to Frisco; later part of the Union Pacific Railroad a redirect to the same article as #1
• Utah Central Railway (1890–1897), Salt Lake City area system; later part of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad redlink with no article
• Utah Central Railroad (1897–1908), successor to the 1890 company; later part of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad no article
• Utah Central Railway (1992), a shortline in the Ogden area

(Note the differences between "railroad" and "railway"). The place to explain the complexity of successor companies to the Utah Central Railroad (1869–81) is in that article, not here. Deleting the 2 entries with errors reduces this to a WP:2DABS page. I propose:

• Move Utah Central Railroad (1869–81) to Utah Central Railroad over the current redirect, and add a hatnote {{about|the railroad companies from 1869|the company from 1992|Utah Central Railway}}
• Move Utah Central Railway (1992) to Utah Central Railway over the current dab page, and add a hatnote {{about|the railroad company from 1992|the railroad companies from 1869|Utah Central Railway}}

I oppose this. It's clear from this that changing Railroad to Railway or vice versa is a common way of reorganizing. Many errors are made in print (for example, search the web for "Norfolk Southern Railroad" and see how many are incorrectly referring to the modern Norfolk Southern Railway (one good example)). There's a lot of ambiguity between the two terms, hence the need for disambiguation. --NE2 18:55, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

@NE2: Comment - I'm not really concerned about the railway/railroad words, so much as the realisation that are really only 2 articles here: one for the turn-of-the-19th/20th-century systems, and one for the 1992 system. Only 2 arti cles don't need a disambiguation page. Maybe you could come up with better names for the 2 articles? Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 08:43, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
