The VAS were, as the name implies, designed for the role of inshore/coastal ASW combatant; a 'sub-chaser' in English-language naval parlance. The 'Type' section at the top of the info box only had them listed as 'MTB', which is what they were derived from, but not what they were in actuality. Nonetheless, much as with the Fairmile B, once the intended mission was found to be of far lesser importance than initially thought by naval planners, the type was adapted to other roles, becoming in the words of Conways "additional flotilla craft". Thus, it is fair to list them as MTBs, but equally unfair not to consider (or list) them as having being sub-chasers. 2A00:23C7:3119:AD01:CC8D:ECA2:2547:FD1F (talk) 16:51, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
