Contested deletion
editThis page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --KamenyiC (talk) 11:37, 29 January 2014 (UTC) I did not know about the previous page being set up or deleted. None of the references I have included are press releases but are from independent journalists in both TV and newspapers, both in the UK and abroad. VX is the rebranded version of Rock-it-Ball. The Rock-it-Ball page has been in existence for about 6 years without being deleted. I note someone's comment about the USA page and the facebook page - however as all the NGBs had to rebrand, this process has taken some time. I also note the comment about links back to the origination organisation, or something - I can only assume that these are links back to Global VX which is the international administrative body and as such are quite logical. To delete this page will be a slap in the face for all the volunteers that are working so hard to continually develop and grow the sport internationally in India, Africa, the USA, the UK ... The comment 'simply throwing tennis balls at each other doesn't ...' demonstrates a clear lack of understanding KamenyiC (talk) 11:37, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
to add to the above: I don't know when the other page was created or by whom. I'm disappointed that people who know nothing about the sport took such a decision to delete the page before the VX community got to see it. I feel the comment about 'puffery' is not borne out by the increasing international TV coverage or the Olympian coming on board as official ambassador KamenyiC (talk) 11:41, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
I have deliberately tried to avoid 'puffery' and hyperbole. I've tried not to use any sensationalist adjectives or overly descriptive words. I have tried to be factual all the way through and abide by Wikipedia guidelines. As references I haven't used anything that was written by anyone in the sport but have restricted myself to reports by independent third parties. For a young sport I don't know what more I could have done KamenyiC (talk) 11:58, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
Can someone explain why the page is up for deletion I thought that wikipedia is a resource to keep people informed and if the page is to be deleted its not doing what its supposed to do.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Craig Stephen Buttery (talk • contribs)
I also note that the previous page was written as a 'team combat sport' and one of the comments was that it didn't really qualify as a combat sport and could perhaps be re-classified. Please note, again, that I was unaware of the existence and deletion of the previous page and that when I created the current VX page I classified it as a ball sport. Without being aware of the previous discussion this clearly addresses one of the issues raised. In my comments above, I also feel I have addressed all the other issues KamenyiC (talk) 12:06, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
