editI took two pictures at Linix.conf.au in Jan 2006. Not the best but people might be able to tidy them a little. I put number one on the main page: Image:Van Jacobson1.jpg and Image:Van Jacobson2.jpg - SimonLyall 09:57, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Network channels
editI can't recall Van ever referring to his Linux network stack performance improvements as network channels, so I've rephrased it to suggest that the term came later. If anybody has evidence to the contrary, go ahead and fix it. I've also added a link to the slides, which I put up with Van's permission. Groogle 00:23, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Suggestion that Van Jacobson not notable is absurd
editAt 17:34 on 28 March 2012 JFHJr flagged this article with the following:
{{multiple issues|BLP unsourced=March 2012|notability=March 2012}}
and the edit summary said "(tag unsourced, probably not notable for his contribution)".
I agree that the article could use some references. I'll add some.
I find it absurd that someone would suggest that Van is "not notable for his contribution". Just read the article, which says:
- For his work, Jacobson received the 2001 ACM SIGCOMM Award, the 2003 IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award, and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2006.
In addition Van is listed as an Internet Pioneer.
I'm going to remove the 'multiple issues' template. -Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 02:18, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
