Talk:Vein stripping

Latest comment: 8 years ago by Ben-Yeudith in topic Can veins be removed partially?

This article in not 100% correct. I've had the procedure done twice and they have made more than two incisions on both occasions. Also, the vein may not always be removed from the groin, especially if the doctor feels there is no need to remove the upper saphenous, as this can be used further down in life for heart surgery.

I agree with the person above, this article is not correct. It's not always two incisions - each patient is different. I've had this procedure and required 12 incisions from my ankle to groin. My father had 15 incisions. Where does the creator of this article get a definite number like two? They don't always go in from the groin especially is the vein is being removed from the knee to the ankle. This procedure isn't done only for vericose veins, it's also done for diseased veins. Lastly, two weeks off? From what? Work? Not true, not true at all. My surgery lasted 4 hours, 12 incisions and an overnight stay due to general anesthesia complications - I was back at work in 3 days. I had pressure wrapping and the aid of a crutch, but back at work in 3 days. Two weeks off work? Where does that information come from? ErnieJamie (talk) 14:52, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can veins be removed partially?

edit

Are some physicians remove veins partially, I.E cutting a vein in the midline for example (without ligation) ? This info should be included in the article, I think... Ben-Yeudith (talk) 18:29, 3 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
