Charge-to-mass ratio
editI have deleted a statement in the article that said the velocity selector selects for appropriate charge to mass ratio. My change reflects the article as it stands, which describes the velocity selector in such as way that charge-mass ratio is irrelevant. A device which accelerates charged particles across a fixed voltage before they entered the region with crossing E and B fields would select for a charge-mass ratio r, as only particles with ratio r would accelerate to the appropriate speed. We could call this a "velocity selector", and amend the article to reflect this alternative device. I don't think we should. Flies 1 (talk) 17:16, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
