Speaking of VfD's, it looks like they're trying to get this one again with the "Importance" tag on the Cleanup tag. Wasn't the importance of Wenedyk and other alt-langs and conlangs established during the course of the VfD? Bo-Lingua 00:27, 16 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

As I see now, most arguments regarding the "importance" of Wenedyk were not stated here, but in the VfD discussion on the German Wikipedia (see here) instead. Among other things, it lists two articles that were written about Wenedyk.
Quite an odd discussion BTW. Eight people voted delete, six people voted keep, and two others voted delete unless the article would be expanded significantly. At some point it was expanded significantly, so in fact the final count should be 8/8. In addition to that you can see that seven out of the eight delete votes (mostly in the form of slogans ridiculising conlangs in general) were issued before the first serious argument in favour of keeping was presented; after that, five people voted keep and only one delete. Yet, that didn't stop the moderator in question to delete the article in the middle of the discussion, merely stating his own opinion as his primary motivation. —IJzeren Jan In mij legge alle fogultjes een ij 12:17, 16 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

As a trivia (or not...), did you know that real Polish language as used by nobility in PLC had quite a few Latin words in it? Renaissance in Poland, for example, was effectively bi-lingual, and when one reads letters or diaries from that period, they have a lot of latin words.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 01:17, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I read a few letters written by Jan III Sobieski. It's indeed quite stunning! I suppose the same phenomenon could also been seen in Wenedyk in those days. —IJzeren Jan In mij legge alle fogultjes een ij 19:15, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

As a Pole, I can't understand that language at all. Those words *look* Polish but they definitely aren't. 188.47.123.180 (talk) 21:38, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
