Merger proposal (2022)
editI propose that Vermont PBS and Vermont Public Radio be merged into a new article titled Vermont Public. The two companies merged last year and adopted their unified branding today (see [1]). Mvcg66b3r (talk) 15:07, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Sammi Brie, Nathan Obral, Wcquidditch, Mrschimpf, Csworldwide1, and BlueboyLINY: Mvcg66b3r (talk) 15:30, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- A straight-up merger is inadvisable here as the organizations had extensive, 50- and 40-year histories prior to merging. The TV and radio pages have a lot of tables. I would go for this structure: an umbrella article at Vermont Public plus pages at Vermont Public (television) and Vermont Public (radio). I have created a draft of the former page at User:Sammi Brie/Vermont Public to demonstrate what the organization page would look like. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 17:04, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- 'Oppose' merging the articles, both the radio and TV articles should be subtopics of a new Vermont Public article covering the new entity. VPR and VPTV would contain the detailed history of their existences, while VP would start with its creation and only have a light overview of VPR and VPTV prior to VP. -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 19:23, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- Comment Mvcg66b3r you should have left a note at VPR talk page about this proposal, since it also concerns that article. As proposal, it should use the WP:Proposed mergers templates, which would appear on the article pages of both articles. (ie.
{{merge|Vermont Public Radio|Vermont PBS|discuss=Talk:Vermont PBS#Merger proposal (2022)}}
{{mergeto|Vermont Public|discuss=Talk:Vermont PBS#Merger proposal (2022)}}
) -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 19:28, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- Support I actually just tagged both pages, and only noticed afterward that this discussion had already been ongoing. Mlaffs (talk) 19:04, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Requested move 25 June 2022
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. Proposal has no traction, with multiple other commenters skeptical. (closed by non-admin page mover) — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 04:39, 23 July 2022 (UTC)

- Mvcg66b3r Not sure why you couldn't have moved them yourself, but I feel it warrants further discussion given Talk:Vermont PBS. In any case, the change in branding only seems to have happened today (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/229842/vpr-vermont-pbs-rebrand-as-vermont-public/), so what is the evidence of the new WP:COMMONNAME? -Kj cheetham (talk) 18:49, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I think you should write an article Vermont Public to cover Vermont Public Broadcasting, of which VPR and VPT are subtopics. Vermont Public Television would then be the wP:NATURALDAB -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 03:52, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- A case could be made for that line of thinking could be made for Vermont Public Radio since that's what the radio side was just renamed from. But "Vermont Public Television" has not been used as a brand name for several years so it doesn't really align with WP:NATURALDAB, meaning parenthetical disambiguation makes more sense here. — stickguy (:^›)— || talk || 15:22, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- NOTE see the related move request at Talk:Vermont Public Radio -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 03:53, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: Guidelines at WP:NCBC would imply Vermont Public (TV network) would be a more appropriate title should we opt for this disambiguation format. — stickguy (:^›)— || talk || 15:22, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- That's probably a better fit, honestly, and I'd endorse. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 16:16, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
