editThis article seems awkward to me. The picture is of the K-12 Vernonia Schools facility which opened in 2012. The "Vernonia High School" which opened in 1953 refers to a building which is no longer in existence. I'm not sure the best way to fix the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcostley (talk • contribs) 06:34, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- I think it's pretty clear in the article that the schools are all in one building. The article is about the entity, Vernonia High School, and not the Vernonia High School building. The OSAA and the school itself treat them as separate entities.[1], [2] This is pretty common in the state where there are many K-12 schools in rural areas, and most high schools, even if in K-12 buildings have separate articles, although I think some of them may redirect to an article about their school district. I made an article for Vernonia School District, feel free to expand this article or that one with more info--there's a really good story there. Maybe add some info on the demolition of the elementary and high school buildings and according to one article they were going to save the middle school for reuse. I don't think this high school article should redirect to the district because they also have one school in Mist. Valfontis (talk) 17:40, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I guess what is confusing to me is that it lists "Opened 1953" which apparently refers to the old building, not the entity (this particular article was created before the flood for the particular building, I believe). I'm not sure when Vernonia first got something called "Vernonia High School." Perhaps there never was anything called that until the 1953 building. I've got a history of Vernonia somewhere, I'll try to find it and see what it says. For what its worth, the old middle school was also demolished. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcostley (talk • contribs) 03:58, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
