This is pretty dreadful - when was it established? Which members of the Hall of Fame were chosen by it? john k (talk) 22:39, 8 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Veterans Committee

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Veterans Committee's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 03:41, 28 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Enos Slaughter, not Hoyt Wilhelm was voted into the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Commission in 1985, Please make a note of it. The Name of Enos Slaughter has to be hyperlinked. Hoyt Wilhelm was voted into the Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writer's Association. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.183.48.206 (talk) 18:15, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Veterans Committee. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Section 2 proposal

edit

The main article page has carried a "very long" warning as a hatnote since September 2016. Most of that length comes from Section 2 of the main page, "Hall of Fame election timeline", which is actually a cut-and-paste of content that appears in individual pages about each year's Hall of Fame election. For example, "First Election (1936)" content also appears in 1936 Baseball Hall of Fame balloting. This pattern continues through the "2012 election", which appears in 2013 Baseball Hall of Fame balloting (as the vote was taken in late 2012, for induction during 2013). I propose deleting the current Section 2 content from the Veterans Committee main page, as that content already exists, and will be retained, on individual pages about each year's elections. Placed in Section 2 would then be a single table that chronologically lists inductees selected by the Veterans Committee, with a link to each year's main article. I believe this will make the Veterans Committee page significantly more readable and useful to readers. Comments welcome. Dmoore5556 (talk) 02:28, 9 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
