Regarding Her Fate
editAs with most of the prominent figures from the pre-Khmer Rouge era there is a lot of speculation. My mother too has told me about that magazine article but there sources arent 100%. I'm very reluctant to use these sources but nevertheless it does give us a glimpse to the fate of some of these people.
I also read from a myriad of magazine articles that stated she was the daughter of a prominant military officer and launched her career initially by posing for pictures. Her beauty captured the attention of directors and she was cast in secondary roles in movies such as Thavory Meas Bong for example. By 1970, she would eventually overtake Dy Saveth and Saom Vansodany and capture the spotlight of Cambodia.
Another article I read was that she almost narrowly escaped the Khmer Rouge. She apparently feel off a horse while filming one of her last films and had to get breast surgery. In order to do that she had to go overseas to Japan and sadly returned before Phnom Penh was evacuated. Apparently excited that the war was over and hearing that there would be peace. But as usual these may all just be speculations.
The only reason I've stuck in that little paragraph regarding her death is there are a few witnesses who reported to have seen Vichara alive during the Vietnamese invasions. LionheartPnshmnt (talk) 23:00, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry it's not much help - but I've been looking as well and can't find any more information about her at all. She has a lot of fans (even now:) but very little solid information. Hopefully, one of these days someone will write a good history of Cambodian Film and help to answer a lot of these questions. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 06:32, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
