editIs she still on the Insider? She has not appeared for a few weeks and a new corespondent seems to be doing the Hollyood segments she did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.100.253.151 (talk) 00:26, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Recaño's father "Hispanic" Filipino
editCan anybody cite a source? Filipinos aren't Hispanics, that is, they don't speak Spanish as a native language. Maybe her father (or his family) immigrated to the Philippines perhaps.--Wambeter 03:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- I added a reference from Latinas Today. Plus, I chatted directly with Recano, who confirmed the mixed heritage. --Elonka 03:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, if it came from Victoria directly, I ain't gonna argue with it. But there seems to be a bit of IMSCF Syndrome going on in my opinion, but it's just my opinion...--Wambeter 03:59, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you have a reasonable concern that the information isn't true, I'm fine on removing it from the article unless we have a more solid source. There does seem to be a certain amount of spin on her website -- for example, anything that might give a clue as to her exact age, seems to have been removed. ;) --Elonka 04:17, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, her exact description, was to say that her father is "Filipino and Spanish". I'm not sure where the "Hispanic" wording crept in over the last few months. --Elonka 04:25, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't mind leaving it as is, but while reading the Latina Style article, they mention that the father has "Latin roots". It's kind of like that they are grasping at straws to accentuate her Latin pedigree. On the magazine's website, it's tagline is "National Magazine for the Contemporary Hispanic Woman". So I guess her being on the website and magazine, I guess Veronica does associate herself with being Hispanic. It's just that Hispanic Filipinos are a very rare minority, and there is alot of pedigree forgery among the Filipino American community. A good article to read here on Wikipedia is the Colonial mentality article, as the IMSCF Syndrome article has been deleted.--Wambeter 05:00, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Virtually all Filipino's have Spanish ancestry and Spanish family names. Saying "of Filipino and Spanish" lineage is redundant and unnecessary, though it's a common mistake. Also, "Latino" could indicate a variety of backgrounds, including Spanish.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.147.67.210 (talk) 15:43, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- Wrong, wrong, wrong. Only about 3.6% of Filipinos have ANY Caucasian (Spanish, American, Italian, etc.) ancestry according to a study done by Stanford University. Most Filipinos have Spanish surnames due to the Catálogo alfabético de apellidos, not because they were inherited from Spanish ancestors.--Wambeter (talk) 10:04, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Emmy awards
editI'd like to see if we can get more details on the "two Emmy awards" which Recano won. There are extensive lists of these awards, so it shouldn't be too difficult. My guess is that it was one of the Daytime Emmy Awards, and that she won it as a part of a team on "Disney Afternoon" or one of the related sub-groups. Can anyone else find more details on which awards she won, and when? --Elonka 05:12, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
