Talk:Vindictus
EU Releasedate
editNexon, the developer/publisher, just stated that the closed beta will start somewhere in Q4 2010 and their plans to launch live will be somewhere in Q1/Q2 2011. No where did they mention any specific date, neither are there sources with real info on the release.
So please would you stop editing random dates in december? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.119.48.216 (talk) 11:03, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
"Most anticipated online game of 2010?
editI just think to myself how's that claim true just because of something like 8,000 fans on a facebook page and some other minor things? Which has not even sources or references to these claims. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.124.112.166 (talk) 03:31, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Elaborating on the topic.
editWell, we have a lot of work to do sprucing up this article, a lot of info is out about the Korean version right now. LaughingReaper (talk) 01:55, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Where would you find info on the Korean version? JacobDells (talk) 05:51, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Title
editWhy is this at Vindictus (video game) and not Vindictus? The clarification is not needed: it's not a real word but a proprietary trademark, and its primary meaning will always be this video game.
I'd move it myself, but I have no intention of logging in for the first time in 3 years to do it. 192.91.173.42 (talk) 05:17, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
---Good question. Vindictus is not a real word so it is game specific, unlike it's predecessor Mabinogi that has a relation to Mabinogion which is a name for something else. I'll change that.
How the article is written
editThis article is not written well. There are many biased statements in this and opinions that should be removed. It needs some major revision. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.163.14 (talk) 23:52, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
---Completely agree that the article is poorly written. The article, while trying to come off as explaining certain gaming terms to the uninitiated reader, actually makes many assumptions to said reader's knowledge of gaming. Example: DPS role is explained with Damage Per Second in paranthesis. Actually the proper name for the role would and should be Damage Dealer, as DPS only makes sense if you know gaming terms. The article could also do with a revision on it's links to other articles. The prime purpose of a wiki article is to explain it's subject in layman's terms. This article utterly fails in that respect. Hargir (talk) 06:52, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
I removed as many instances of second person as I saw and which weren't direct quotations. I think the quotations need to be cut down; definitely whoever is writing in second person needs to learn to not. This is a general information encyclopedic page, not a game guide. Excessive scope
editSeveral parts of this article are much too detailed. This is an encyclopedic entry, not a full list of features. Class descriptions should be condensed in a single sentence like 'There are multiple playable characters with different capabilities' or something like that. Same goes for other excessively detailed descriptions. Someone willing to spend some time on this? 153.95.95.16 (talk) 08:24, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Hidden "Internet Explorer" ad?
editThe phrase "See the official Vindictus website, using Internet Explorer to sign up" should be corrected to "See the official Vindictus website, to sign up". --89.137.179.204 (talk) 21:39, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- actually, it should be "See the official Vindictus website to sign up"--Dtdsora (talk) 05:13, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
adult version?
editThe ratings section says there's an "Adult Version" - Do I even want to know? I bet I don't. But I bring it up because I don't think there is such a version, so it probably shouldn't be on the page. Ohemgee (talk) 20:13, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Removal of European Release section
editThe back-and-forth of the European Release section between those who want to keep valid information on this article and those who don't needs to stop. Until more information on a European release is revealed the European Release section has been removed. Let the publishing information remain as Nexon Europe and the release date information remain as 2011 in the infobox. Mserver (talk) 20:14, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
IP Shields
editEuropeans who are unable to play the game due to the servers being only available to US and Canada regions are able to do so by using IP shield software.
I have been told not to add this information to the Vindictus page, yet not told why. This is useful information for Europeans who wish to play the game, and as far as I know there is nothing illegal in using this software. So why is it censored?
--APS1984 (talk) 17:59, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- No, it is not illegal. However, Vindictus uses a peer-to-peer system which means that if one person in a group has a bad connection to the server, all members of the group will be affected negatively. The presence of European users in the North American service of the game will negatively affect the people who the game is currently being serviced for. Besides, even if a peer-to-peer system was not being used, the game was meant to service North American users, not Europeans. Wanting to play or not, the game doesn't service their region (yet).Mserver (talk) 22:08, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Yet some Europeans have better ping to us servers then Americans, not to discuss that its officially stated that it would come out in Q4 2010 but it should have been out or at least given ANY info. Nexon keeps us blind and it was meant for all over the world (note maple GLOBAL) but somewhere along the road Nexon decided to block some IP-regions, I don't see the problem when everyone has a good connection and uses English. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.96.187.199 (talk) 23:06, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Title of Game
editIt looks like the title is actually a stylized Latin word not a combination of two English words. The current explanation of the name has nothing to back it up and the Latin root of both words is quite similar to Vindictus, that being vindicare. Vindictus seems to be the male form of vindicatio minus the a.[1] I see this as a more logical explanation for the names origin.

Not actually massively multiplayer
editWhile it's certainly an enjoyable game regardless of the genre title slapped on it, it's actually only 1 to 8 player, currently (10 if you include a fishing minigame). The massively multiplayer genre title (MMORPG, specifically) is improperly applied to this game. -- 76.171.180.33 (talk) 09:22, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
