Place of birth

On Vinnie's wiki page it says on the right side he was born in Watford, but the main text says he was born in Plymouth - Can this utter farce be sorted out ASAP please? What is the point of having a wiki page which has such glaring errors. It makes an ass out of you and me. And Assumption. Or something. Please rectify. It is stated on the "Batcave (club)" page that Vinnie was once a regular at the Batcave, the world's first Goth bar... While this, in my opinion, makes the man seem even more amazing than he already is, I would like to know what are the sources of this? He has been credited fro 6`0-6`2. He was originally credited at 6`0, but slowly climbed up to 6`2. usually that is suspicous, however i do think that he is 6`2.

There is a book called "The Guv'nor" by Lenny McLean and Peter Gerrard. Vinnie Jones and Lenny McLean were both in "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". I don't know if that has any pertinence. TinyMark 02:52, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

He HAS actually written an autobiography, though it is simply titled 'Vinnie Jones: The autobiography'. In addition to this Amazon also lists 'Vinnie: My Life' but I suspect that is just a later re-release of the same book. I'll add some details when I get a spare minute. Sweden (Norway?)

I watched a TV documentary about Vin Jones in which it covered an early period of his career playing for a Norwegian third-level club prior to Wimbledon. I can't remember the name of the club and have tried to research this. I know they famously played a top-level Norwegian club in their version of the FA Cup and were 2-0 down at half-time but came back to win 3-2. There are some great anecdotes by his then team-mates about V. Jones' 'motivational' speech at half-term (which sounded even better quoted in a thick Norwegian accent - "C'mon you b**tards! You are probably confusing this with the then second-level Swedish club IFK Holmsund (outside Umeå). He played there one season in 1986 and helped them win the series. I'll add information about this...

Fastest red card

Vinnie Jones' article says that he "holds the record for the quickest sending off" (3 seconds). The cited source says it is the quickest "booking." It is my understanding that booking could be a yellow card and it doesn't mean that Jones was sent off. The articles went on and mention previous record-holders. No Vinnie Jones. I have no idea which one to believe. I have no knowledge in this. May be something need to be rephrased. Mitsubishi

I first met Vince when he worked at Mitsubishi in Watford as a warehouseman and I was a lorry driver and he used to help me load up TVs, Videos and other electrical goods. He was not the person he portrays in public life today or the image that people have of him. I found him to be a well mannered funny guy,who liked a beer and a joke. Behind the warehouse there was a leisure centre called Hartspring and during lunch breaks we used to go and play 5 x side with some of the other guys from the warehouse, he could play a bit but was always running up his own backside and lost the ball more times than I cared to remember. At that time I was managing a local Sunday side and was on the lookout for players and asked him if he would like to come a play for us, he said no because he was playing for the International University Of America and they paid him for cutting the grass. After about 2-3 months he came to me and asked if I still wanted him to play for me , I turned him down because I had already signed a better midfield player and he had a habit of getting himself booked and eventually banned. Their was a guy called Steve McCargo that played for the University as well and he played for Wealdstone on a Saturday and persuaded Vince to go along for a trial-the rest as they say is history. I have met Vince a few times over the years and he has always stopped and spoken to me. He took an awful lot of stick over the years from the media and hacks in the newspapers but he lived the dream of so many Saturday/Sunday park football lads. chat show & Satellite award

Not yet in the article is that Jones had his own chat show, and that he won a Satellite award. The latter was not a Satellite Award but an award given out by the magazine Satellite TV Europe (that became Satellite TV Monthly, that merged with What Satellite to become What Satellite and Digital TV). The award probably was "Personality of the Year". Possibly in 1997. According to Jones, in episode 208 of Kevin Pollak's Chat Show, the award was for a chat show that he (co-)hosted for two series. About playing for First Division and Second Division

In the part where his football record is given I think there needs to be some kind of explanation included about the difference between First Division before and after 1992. I'm an American so I'm not sure if what I think I know on the subject is correct, but wasn't First Division the top level in football before 1992 and then with the creation of the Premier League wasn't it demoted to the next highest level? So doesn't this mean that First Division in 1988 is not the same thing as it was in 1998?? Shouldn't that distinction be made clear to the reader??? Link to testicles?

In the phrase " grabbing Paul Gascoigne by his testicles during a league game" the word testicles is linked to the eponymous article. Is there a reason for this? I imagine any normal person would know what a testicle is, especially given the context. This smells of either pedantic link generation (in which case we should also have links for elbow, knee etc.) or an attempt at humour by emphasising a "rude" word. I don't see why Jones' page uses the infobox for "Persons" rather than Footballer. I'd suggest changing it to this, which would suit the style of other footballers but lose information regarding spouse and children.
