Azul Brazilian Airlines flights to Juiz de Fora
editAccording to the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil, Pres. Itamar Franco Airport is located in Goianá and not in Rio Novo. Furthermore, the main destination is Juiz de Fora and its metropolitan area. The same situation is found with CGB (serves Cuiabá and located in Várzea Grande), CWB (serves Curitiba and located in São José dos Pinhais), NAT (serves Natal and located in Parnamirim), or more internationally, with GRU (serves São Paulo and located in Guarulhos) or CDG (serves Paris and located in Roissy-en-France), among others. Airport Official Name
editAs made explicit in text reference 4, Brazilian Federal Law 7.585 of January 6, 1987 established that the official name to be used in all State documents documents is Viracopos-Campinas International Airport and this overides the popular name Viracopos International Airport used in the airport website. The confusion is understadable because a few years ago some airports in Brazil, particularly the bigger ones, had their names slightly changed to reflect both their city (Campinas) and location/neighborhood (Viracopos). Viracopos International Airport, the older form still popularly used, had the name related only to the location. The law established that the city name, Campinas, had to be mentioned as well and also established in which order they were to be mentioned. Brunoptsem (talk) 09:19, 30 August 2012 (UTC))
