ABBA is a rhyme scheme; not a musical structure. I believe the author means a quatrain would correspond to 8 measures with some regularity, such as indicated by the performance of the example poem on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2Pb_jpSyiE - the second half has the lyrics) However, in the tercets, the AABAAB rhyme structures as shown in the example

are sung in the same performance on varying measures of up to 9 in a round.
