This article needs improvement and revision; added detail and information. Any contributions would be helpful for the article. Cmguy777 (talk) 06:14, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
The article refers to the first 4 Cuban patriots facing the firing squad as "mercenaries"; this is rather insulting to the memory of these great men, among them Col Pedro de Cespedes, the brother of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, the leader of the failed 10 Year War; the other 3 were Bernabe Varona, Jesus del Sol, and Wahington O'Ryan, if you care to add these names to the article. I have tried to make the change but have not succeeded; please make that minor but important correction to this article that otherwise reflects history very well.
Thank you
I have also tried to add an anecdote told by a witness, Don Tomas Beattie Brooks (the interpreter), at the interview that took place between Sir Lambton Lorraine and Juan Nepomuceno Burriel. When Burriel atempted to shake Lorraine's hand, the latter stood very stiff and said "I will not shake hands with a butcher". You may want to add this to the article too.
