MergeFrom Large Pathetic Galaxy
edituser:Trebor Rowntree has suggested that Large Pathetic Galaxy be merged into Virgo Stellar Stream.
Large Pathetic Galaxy is a small pathetic article that has apparently been thru two AfDs, resulting in no Keep advocacies, but no agreement abt whether to merge or delete. It sounds real; if it is factually within this topic, please merge it with this, or vote for deletion.

Survey
edit- Delete that article. The discussion is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Large pathetic galaxy (second nomination). The phrase is already mentioned in this article (Virgo Stellar Stream) and for other reasons outlined in the AFD, I recommend deletion. It's not a name or even an informal designation for the VSS so a redirect (the result of a merge) would be misleading. — coelacan — 18:55, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
End of survey
edit"Large pathetic galaxy" seems to be a pathetically dead article. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 17:42, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Discussion
editLargest galaxy?
editArticle states that the VSS "is the largest galaxy visible from the Earth, in terms of the area of the night sky covered". I'm not an astronomer, but I'd be very surprised if the Milky Way wasn't larger in terms of covered area. In other words, is there a reference for this? Or did the editor mean "the second largest galaxy"? 143.106.128.114 (talk) 23:01, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. Especially considering the apparent size of the Milky Way is arguably 360°x360°, ie the entire sky, since stars in it are visible in every direction. 94.194.66.92 (talk) 04:47, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Name
editThe names Virgo Stellar Stream and Virgo Overdensity seems to occur in the sources. From where come the misleading names Virgo Dwarf Galaxy, and Virgo super star cluster? It's not a galaxy any more, and it's nothing like a star cluster. Perhaps a star cloud, but not a cluster. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 17:45, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- I cannot find a galaxy that is named Virgo Dwarf Galaxy, just a lot of dwarf galaxies in Virgo, f.ex. IC 3475. Neither can I find Virgo super star cluster on Google. I think those "names" are as imaginative and unreal as "Large Pathetic Galaxy". Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 17:52, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
