- A source would be good, but I was told it was 1954 by a resident. I don't think that living there at the time of the tornado is original research, but of course I don't blame you for flagging the comment as such. Andrew Nielsen (talk) 05:45, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
"Vita" is NOT Ukrainian for "life"
editI'm a native speaker of Ukrainian, and the only Ukrainian word for "life" that I know of is "zhyttia/життя". It's actually Italian. If you look at the corresponding Ukrainian Wikipedia article, it clearly says "Змінено назву і села, і місцевої пошти, на Vita тому що, прокладаючи колію, завідуючий бригадою залізничників італієць застеріг собі право називати зупинки по її довжині на італійський лад." - translation: "The name of the village and the post office was changed to Vita because when the railroad came through, the rail-line laying foreman (who was of Italian background) reserved his right to name stations along the line in Italian." I will edit the article to correct the error.
