This monography refers that Vivarium followed a Benedectine model, hence it has categorized consequently. They had a knowledge of medicine and of medical herbs whose origin preeceded the 11th-century cultural Islamization. Vaguely, the text refers to Greek authors whose work couldn't be known according to the dogma for which Greek culture was untraslated untill Michael Scot at the Court of king Emperor Frederick II in Palermo. So far, the origin of the Vivarium's medical knowledge is not well defined. Hope that someone will find additional sources.Regards.
