Vizhinjam International Seaport, Thiruvananthapuram → Vizhinjam International Seaport – Official name is Vizhinjam International Seaport. the word 'Thiruvanathapuram' is only a subtitle in the logo, not the part of official name. Moreover, comma is used in titles only when there is a need for disambiguation. 'Vizhinjam International Seaport' is a unique name, therefore no need to uses comma or the word 'Thiruvanathapuram' ChandlerMinh (talk) 15:13, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
The official name of the port is Vizhinjam International Seaport or Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited. 'Thiruvananthapuram' is only a subtitle in the logo; therefore 'Thiruvananthapuram' must be omitted from the title. Commas are only used in title in special cases where there is another page with similar name. This is not required in the case of this port which have a unique name ChandlerMinh (talk) 15:10, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. The official name of the port is Vizhinjam International Seaport Thiruvananthapuram (VIST). Source 1, Source 2Source 3, Source 4, Source 5, Source 6, Source 7, Source 8, Source 9, Source 10, Source 11. Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd (VISL) is the GoK company that manages the port along with Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd (AVPL). As you can see from all the above articles, both are not the port's name and are the names of companies that are managing the port. From all the above sources, and even from the logo, it's clearly mentioned that the name of the port is Vizhinjam International Seaport Thiruvananthapuram. AG47 Talk 17:00, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- "Vizhinjam International Seaport Thiruvananthapuram" is the official name of the port and thiruvananthapuram is added to the name by port minister of kerala. Please refer the official logo of the port 91.0.56.221 (talk) 10:20, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- But agree that the comma is not needed. It should be Vizhinjam International Seaport Thiruvananthapuram. AG47 Talk 18:16, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- why did you revert the copy edit. why does the infobox have "Vizhinjam International Seaport Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum Seaport)". the word Trivandrum and Seaport are redundant. In other article about ports. it usually contains name in English and name in native language see Port of Shanghai, Port of Singapore etc. similar native language names are not mentioned in the lead. I have moved it to infobox. dont revert. ChandlerMinh (talk) 13:54, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

- under what scenario you decided to move the name from Thiruvananthapuram when the Kerala government and port authority officially added Thiruvananthapuram .Could you explain? 91.0.56.221 (talk) 10:28, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose.:The name of the port is changed officially by state government of kerala to Vizhinjam International seaport Thiruvananthapuram

- Oppose. The Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, officially revealed the new name. Given the official nature of the announcement, it's not possible to exclude "Thiruvananthapuram" from the name, nor does the addition of a comma serve a meaningful purpose.

- Oppose.Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd (VISL) and Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd (AVPL) are the entities responsible for the management of the port. It's important to note that these are not names of the port itself but rather the names of the companies overseeing its operations. From the information provided in the aforementioned articles and even evident in the port's logo, it is distinctly indicated that the port is officially named Vizhinjam International Seaport Thiruvananthapuram GeorgeFernandez1968 (talk) 13:44, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
Concerns
editThis article has a few issues. There are some grammatical errors, which is fair enough for an article that may be authored by non-native English speakers, but my main worry is that there is so much puffery (see WP:FLUFF) that it reads like a Government press release.
Phrases such as "poised to become..." and "it lies just 10 nautical miles from..." employ classic peacock words, and all such examples need careful revision to avoid coming across as 'flattering'. Additionally, it is twice stated that the port offers an "advantage", but not what the advantage is OVER. Ideally, an impartial phrase containing the word "advantage" would read something like this: "Widget X offers the following advantage over Widget Y", followed by the properties X has but Y doesn't. It's not ideal to state that something has an "advantage" because of some property it has, without a direct comparison to something else. This is another sign of a promo piece.
All in all it's a little messy. I'll fix some of the grammar but I'll leave the rest alone; I don't want to invest any significant time on something that might get reverted! Blitterbug 10:12, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
