Successor
editi don´t think it´s true to say that the 242gt was the successor as there was a 123gt which was the same concept. the successor to the 1800 could possibly be the 480es or the c70. --Lotsofmagnets (talk) 21:38, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed, I think it best to leave the successor field blank and have changed the infobox accordingly. Better than adding something contrived. Also, new topics should go at the bottom of the talk page. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 07:08, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Sliver car
editThe current photo (File:Volvo1800s.JPG) is a poor example because of it's non-standard and completely non-period wheels. This should ideally be replaced if someone has a better shot of an 1800S. Tartanperil (talk) 03:43, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- There's quite a selection at the wiki picture bank. I don't think any of them is ideal, but several look perfectly competent to me. If you find one that you prefer to what is there right now, there's no reason why these images shouldn't get rotated from time to time. Feel free to join in and do it. Reference links
editThe reference links in the article do not work. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Josehunder (talk) 04:48, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Citations!
editOverall this is a good well-written article, but it really needs some references to back up the statements of fact. I have tagged a couple but there are plenty more.Shaz91 12:21, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Wrong Photo
editI don't think the 1800 E is a modern day bus ... :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.22.49.149 (talk) 18:22, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
P1900 was not a failure in sales
editThis sentence gives the reader the wrong idea:
The project was started in 1957 because Volvo wanted a sports car, despite the fact that their previous attempt, the P1900, had been a disaster, with only 68 cars sold.
However, P1900 was not scraped due to bad sales. Only 68 of them were MADE because one of the high ranking executives took one for a week and, dissatisfied with the car's quality, ended the production of the car. Unfortunately I don't have a reference for this at this moment but neither does the original author (I see no reference there). I think this should be rectified with something like:
The project was started in 1957 because Volvo wanted a sports car, despite the fact that their previous attempt, the P1900, had been a disaster, with only 68 vehicles produced before the production was stopped at the request of His Name, then the DirectorOfWhatever at Vovo.
- yup, also don´t have a reference at this point but the p1900 was stopped by poor quality rather than low sales.--Lotsofmagnets (talk) 13:41, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Record is obviously fraudulent
editTo achieve that mileage, the owner would have had to drive an average of 162.4 miles per day, every day, for 44 years. I call bullshit. --216.145.70.151 (talk) 19:51, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
The record.
editThis snippet: "On July 21, 2012, Irv mentioned only 50.000 miles to go before the target of 3 million miles." makes little sense. That date is 2 weeks into the future at the moment of writing. I took the liberty to remove it. If anyone can dig up a proper source (with a real date) feel free to put it back. 82.136.225.128 (talk) 23:26, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
