I'm new here so please forgive any breach of protocol. I just wanted to put forward my opinion that the correct spelling of the Russian city name Во́лжский in English should be Volzhskiy. This is not only a direct letter for letter translation, but the accepted spelling of the people who live there including my family and friends. This spelling was corrected once before by a user and immediately reversed. I was wondering why it was reversed when like me, the person suggesting the change had personal knowledge of the way the residents of Volzhskiy spell the name of their own city.

Please note that Russian names are romanized in Wikipedia using this guideline. "Volzhskiy" spelling is not incorrect, it is simply an alternative way to romanize the Russian name; one of many. For standardization purposes, we prefer to consistently use only one romanization method. Hope this helps.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 16:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
