Hey, this is one of the first articles I copy edited and it looks to be okay in terms of language, so I've been bold and removed the tag. Aleksandar Bulovic' (talk) 13:10, 24 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

"ASCII code", or "ASCII art"?

edit

Is his interest in the encoding of ASCII, or is it more in ASCII art (which is only "ASCII" in that it limits the "palette" to the characters available in ASCII? (The same sort of thing could be done with EBCDIC and, if images were printed on IBM or other mainframes that used EBCDIC in software, was done with EBCDIC.)

I.e., is it relevant to his art that, for example, the "ASCII code" for capital-A is octal 101, decimal 65, or hexadecimal 41, or is it more that a printed capital "A" as a "pixel" looks a particular way, regardless of its encoding?

Or does "ASCII code" refer to computer source code written using ASCII characters? Guy Harris (talk) 04:52, 2 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
