References to Vulcan as the god of fire and of alchemists was introduced into hermetic terminology by the Swiss physician Paracelsus, who viewed fire as a purifying art 'He who is Vulcan has the power of the art' etc. etc. Allusion to Vulcan can be found in other Paracelsian inclined alchemists including Jean Baptiste van Helmont, Arthur Dee and Sir Thomas Browne.

About Vulcan This sections references are now cited in the references section. It was easy enough seeing how there is an approved article about the statue on Wiki with references. Art8641 Mar 2007

Vulcan in mythology This section is just wrong. The writer is confusing his mythology. Prometheus is the one that stole the fire from the gods. This would be the Greek gods, not the Roman Gods. Art8641 Mar 2007

Planet

edit

An astronomy book I had from the early 1900's talked of the planet Vulcan as being a small body about 13 million miles from the Sun.(84.236.152.71 (talk) 19:10, 13 June 2014 (UTC))Reply

That's probably Vulcan (hypothetical planet)? Martinevans123 (talk) 19:34, 13 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I guess that makes more sense than my edit did. Whatever, I guess. It should not have been marked as VANDALISM, by the way, but if that makes you feel good, more power to you, I guess. KJRehberg (talk) 04:17, 26 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Any data at all

suggesting that the Roman god isn't the clear primary topic here? — LlywelynII 04:58, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

The difference in page views is not very significant. While the roman god does garner more page views, it is not by a large margin and not more than all the others combined and thus fails WP:PT1. It might be possible to make a case based on long-term significance, but that would require data showing the roman god is the primary topic rather than a negative absence of data. olderwiser 10:31, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
