At the end of the broadcast of "Night Gallery" the tape feed got stuck. So far 8 minutes of the video tape stuck on the same point in the closing credits "assistant to the producer ANTHONY REDMAN" have aired. Looks like it could go a half hour. Viewing thru Dish but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Ah, there after 10 minutes the regular programming resumes. 72.228.150.44 (talk) 03:10, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Has anyone noticed if WNGS has gone dark? I pick this up as a Digital Subchannel of WKBW and while Signal Strength is about 80% there is no program and with the website being down, I wondered if they have gone dark? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.205.247.54 (talk) 17:09, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

WONS Olean NY

edit

I was an employee of WONS (formerly W25AK/W20AB) in Olean NY for nearly 15 years. I was there when the agreement to carry the UPN programming was made with WNGS, although we received all our network information from the UPN affiliate in Rochester (WBGT).

Although I have not lived in the area since 2000, when I do return to town for vacations I often look at WONS which is carried on Time Warner cable channel 15 in the Olean area. They have been carrying programming from The Sportsman Channel for quite some time. It would probably be a good idea to check on this since the Wiki article says they carry WNGS programming (at least until June 12th of this year). I don't recall seeing WNGS programming on WONS for several years. Current TV listings for WONS on TW cable 15 has listings for the Sportsman Channel programming.RevJPW (talk) 05:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Is The Sportsman Channel even still available terrestrially? Other articles (such as that for the network itself or for various individual affiliates like local Glendive stranglehold TV broadcasting monopoly KXGN-TV) indicate that the programming was removed from any terrestrial affiliates in 2009. --66.102.80.212 (talk) 14:45, 19 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tampered quotation from individual Equity stations' DTV reports

edit

I note that this page (and likely a few other Equity full-service stations of recent, 21st-century vintage) claim (according to the station's most recent DTV status report), "On December 8, 2008, the licensee's parent corporation filed a petition for bankruptcy relief under chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy code, case #4:08-BK-17646-M, US district court for the district of Arkansas. This station must obtain post-petition financing and court approval before digital facilities may be constructed. The station will cease analogue broadcasting on June 12, 2009, regardless of whether digital facilities are operational by that date. The station will file authority to remain silent if so required by the FCC."[13]

The original quoted document, as written in December 2008, lists not "June 12, 2009" but "February 17, 2009", the then-official and much-advertised official analogue shutoff date. The extension to "June 12" was not offered until soon after the Obama administration took office in 2009, and therefore tampering with a quote from a December 2008 document to list this date is a rather blatant anachronism.

Either the quotation style needs to be fixed in order to remove the false inference that Equity Broadcasting could have been aware in 2008 of decisions which would only be made by Obama's administration in early 2009, or as an encyclopaedia parody, WP should stick to making up Oscar Wilde quotes and leave the task of quoting from publicly-available official US documents of record to others? --66.102.80.212 (talk) 14:41, 19 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Availability of subchannel programming

edit

Can someone verify as to whether Me-TV is on one of the subchannels full time and therefore when the main channel is not carrying the Me-TV programming the Me-TV programming is still available?. 1archie99 (talk) 07:55, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I can (and do) watch un-interupted METV on 67.3 in the morning. You should be able to pick it up. Re-scan your TV if not. Looks great, love the shows. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.180.198.44 (talk) 21:12, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I live in North Buffalo. The only digital tv I have available is a portable that can only pick up a few of the local on air channels using the antenna provided with it. It can not pick up any of the WBBZ channels with it. What equipment are you using? I really don't want to install an outdoor antenna at this time. I was curious as to the flexibility of programming WBBZ is providing. WXPJ is providing 3 channels per Wikipedia , none of which I can pick up. Seems with the refusal of TW to consider these subchannels as local televison and the local stations requiring TW to pay them, the consumer is not important, just making a lot of money is important. The only WBBZ TW provides on the broadcast tier is 67.1. I do not understand this; seems that with all the alternatives available, the local channels would be happy to be carried at little or even no payment but recent events have proved this often not to be the case. 1archie99 (talk) 22:08, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Off Beat Cinema

edit

Since August 4 have any of the shows aired been produced at WBBZ? I have not seen any evidence of this. I noticed a coffee cup with 7 inside a circle on it on at least two occassions and a 2005 copyright date at the end of one program. The October 21 program had a copyright date of 1997.1archie99 (talk) 16:13, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Mylous Hairston

edit

Mylous Hairston has not been hosting the political talk show for at least 3 weeks. I have not been able to find out if he still is employed or contracted by the station.1archie99 (talk) 16:10, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Broadcast Availability

edit

This station has one of the lowest broadcast reception rates in the Buffalo Metro area. The broadcast signal strength is generally not strong enough to reliably reach the northern metro region and other near broadcast areas due to the technical limitations of HD terrestrial transmissions. Since WBBZ was removed as a digital subchannel of the more centrally located WGRZ, its market presence has virtually disappeared in households where no digital subscription service is present. --74.77.130.48 (talk) 09:02, 10 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

It would be nice to have some source for the "virtually disappeared" statement. A digital subscription service is not required to receive as analog subscription service is widely available for the main channel. Otherwise, the edit above appears to be correct.1archie99 (talk) 02:14, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Frequent long periods of breakdowns

edit

I would like to see this subject covered. As I write this one of those periods was in process at 5:45 am on 12-27 and is still continuing at 7:18 am. Flashes of 2 different programs and commercials take turns being broadcast. The last time I encountered this I gave up waiting after an hour. I will stop waiting after I finish writing this. Are they using very old equipment? It is not the network. At 7 weekdays they always show infomercials not MeTV. At the very least it would seem to me they could telecast a card with some info explaining the problem. It seems that the owner does not care about the viewers.1archie99 (talk) 12:20, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

@Sammi Brie and Nathan Obral: You might want to look at this article. Lots of cruft, promotional content, etc. The Buffalo and Springville papers are on Newspapers.com. Also, a comparative contour map would help. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 11:14, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
