editLiving in Memphis in the 1960's I used to hear WCCO after sunset. Even obtained a QSL card. Mccainre (talk) 01:29, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
No mention of the strike?
editThis article is missing any mention of the bitter strike by the announcers & engineers at 'CCO in the late 1970's. But I remember this as a major turning point for the station, and I believe listener numbers would confirm this.
The station tried to replace the well-known announcers with management people, who were just not up to the job. Many long-time 'CCO listeners (like my parents) went elsewhere, either because of the lowered quality announcing, or out of support of the striking announcers. And many of those listeners never came back to 'CCO.
Plus the strike left a bad atmosphere between the workers and management, and within a few years many of the old-time announcers were gone from 'CCO. Many of them ended up at another radio station for a while, which was commonly called 'CCO in exile'.
It seems like this was an important enough event to be mentioned in the article.T-bonham (talk) 06:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Wcco2006.jpg
editImage:Wcco2006.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material
editHello Notichicas, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to the list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:
- WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
- As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
- WP:Source list tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
- Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.
If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 20:54, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
@Deconstructhis I am thinking about submitting an article about Dean Spratt, from one of these lists. Maybe you could take a look and tell me what you think about my sources, construction, format, etc...? Thanks. Mrainwater1 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:10, 27 October 2011 (UTC).
Massive amount of unreferenced content
editThe On Air Staff section, in its entirety, contains not one reference! It isn't written in prose and looks more like a programming directory violating WP:NOTDIR. Also, the former on air staff section is not sourced. One editor added the list of people who worked at the station back in on justification that they made the station what it was. While that may be, the list is not in prose, nor is it sourced. Unsourced material may be challenged or removed, and I am challenging their inclusion in this article.--ḾỊḼʘɴίcả • Talk • I DX for fun! 18:53, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 2 external links on WCCO (AM). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20120717003833/http://www.mplib.org/history/nm2.asp to http://www.mplib.org/history/nm2.asp
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20070223015146/http://www.miami.com:80/mld/miamiherald/entertainment/9753249.htm to http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/entertainment/9753249.htm
