Indian Wells 1996 was a Tier II event I think

Hello, I'am Eric from France, I work on female Tennis project on Wikipedia (french language). I think I have detected a mistake in this page. Indian Wells 1996 was a Tier II event and not a Tier I event in 1996. On wikipedia french, we have put it en Tier II. It seems that the category has changed in 1997 and not in 1996. 1996 was just the year for which men and women played together when ATP and WTA approved the combining of the events. I give you the source : https://bnpparibasopen.com/tournament/history/2001-2010-2/ in which this is written in chapter 1997 "The WTA designated the State Farm Evert Cup as a Tier 1 event, the top WTA category at the time and Lindsay Davenport celebrated her first desert win against Irina Spîrlea in straight sets: 6-2, 6-1". This can be checked as well with the prize money in 1996 which was 500000$ (as for all Tier II events). Let me know what you think about it, my purpose is not to impose on you how to do it but only to make sure that Wiki is correct. If I'm wrong, I will accept it. @Cactus93, sorry for responding late. I just saw this comment. I would otherwise agree with your case, but the WTA lists "State Farm Evert Cup" aka "Indian Wells" (IW) as a WTA 1000 category event in 1996, then known as a Tier I tournament. Which counters the Indian Wells fact listed on their official site. I don't what to choose as the correct year 1996 or 1997 for IW being a Tier I event. It's practically a source/citation stalemate.
