License ownership
editIn my recent copyedit, I retained the reference to the station license being purchased by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Would it be more correct to say that the license was purchased by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation? I see reference to that in the Wikipedia Jazzfest article, but I don't know for a fact if the foundation existed at the time of the license transfer.

- Yes, you're correct. The Foundation is the organization which puts on the Festival. -- Infrogmation 18:20, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
While the name of the involved organizations and details of the license transfer are still not "exact" herein I do feel it significant to replace the "purchased" wording with "transferred." There was no purchase. A new none profit organization was created and after the J&H Festival Foundation agreeing to provide the Nora Blatch Foundation a donation to pay off some long standing WWOZ debts (tower rent past due and other basic operating costs that had piled up) the license was transferred from the Nora Blatch Foundation to the newly incorporated non-profit "Friends of WWOZ" which has legal ties to the NOJH Foundation. I don't have copies of the agreement papers at hand to detail the exact relationship of the "Friends" to the NOJHF and neither do I think it is necessary to detail that in this small wikipedia entry. - Thanks for the details. -- Infrogmation 02:53, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
