Speedy Deletion tag
editThe reason I applied this is because there is an already better article at WYFX and I plan to move it to this page once it gets deleted. --CFIF (talk to me) 12:18, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- This has been properly moved, apparently. --CFIF (talk to me) 22:42, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Fox1762.gif
editImage:Fox1762.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Move to WKBN-DT2?
editHey folks, since NVT has successfully been able to do to WYFX what previous owner Piedmont didn't do by broadcasting WYFX in HD full-power on WKBN's second digital subchannel, should we move the page to WKBN-DT2?
Arguments in favor:
- WYFX & WFXI call signs now used strictly for FCC-mandated station identification (in addition to WKBN-TV, since it is simulcast on 27.2), as well as EPG for over-the-air and cable broadcasts. WYFX calls not used for marketing anymore.
- While WFXI in Mercer remains on the air in analog on channel 17, the main WYFX signal was forced to sign off on analog on June 12th due to channel 62 needing freed up. It has not re-signed on in digital.
- Permanent subchannel? In all honesty, WYFX is much better off as a subchannel of WKBN as far as over-the-air is concerned. Plus, since WKBN was able to get both its main signal and the simulcast of WYFX to broadcast in HD full-time (only eight other stations nationally are airing two subchannels in HD full-time on the same signal), there would be no need to keep WYFX & WFXI's licenses.
Arguments against:
- Still official call sign, and still officially licensed with the FCC.
- NVT has made NO announcement that they will permanently shut off WYFX & WFXI, forfeit those two licenses back to the FCC, and keep WYFX as a subchannel of WKBN.
- WFXI is still on-the-air on channel 17 in analog in addition to WYFX airing on WKBN-DT2.
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Jgera5 (talk) 11:07, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

WYFX-LP → WKBN-DT2 — WYFX still official call signs for the low-powered signal, but is only used in FCC station identification, and is no longer used for marketing. Plus, over-the-air, it is better accessed by WKBN's second digital subchannel. Jgera5 (talk) 21:17, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose Convention for U.S. stations is that the official call sign as verifiable by the FCC is used for naming articles — see naming conventions here. A redirect to the article can easily be established from the digital call sign. Mlaffs (talk) 21:23, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose Marketing is fluid, shifting, and often hard to reliably source. While a re-direct from the marketing name to the legal call sign might be appropriate, by standards and practice all U.S. television station articles are named for their FCC-issued call signs. - Dravecky (talk) 22:23, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose per Mlaffs above, a redirect (from WKBN-DT2 to WYFX-LP) might be more appropriate. --MrRadioGuy P T C E 23:02, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
The marketing name is Fox Youngstown, and technically, WKBN-TV is its call sign in addition to WYFX-LP. Because of its availability on 27.2 it has both call signs in its station identification. The standard practice for digital subchannels on Wikipedia is to put the official call sign (minus any suffix), then "-DT", then immediately afterwards the number to what channel it is on. (e.g. WFMJ-DT2, WYTV-DT2, etc...) Eventually I see the WYFX-LP license forfeited back to the FCC much in the same manner as WFXI-CA, as there is no need to have the translator. WFXI-CA previously on Channel 31
editFox 17/62 was once Fox 31/62. I believe it moved to 17 not too long after their sign-on in the late 90's. I can't find anything on the Internet relating to this move. If anyone can dig up any information on the Fox 31/62 incarnation, it would be neat to have it included in the article.
Channels 19
editI could always receive all channels 19 unless there was stormy weather. Now I can’t tune them in at all. I don’t know what happened.🙁 Kimscotchir (talk) 15:15, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
