Eliot/Waban swap

edit

I've deleted the paragraph about the supposed Eliot/Waban mixup as there's absolutely corroborating evidence. Unless someone comes up with a citation, I'm going to chalk it down to local myth. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:28, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The story appears in Waban, The Early Days from the Chapter, The Railroad By Ellsebree D. Locke printed 1944 http://wabanimprovement.org/oldsite/waban%20early%20days/railroad.html

"It had been the intention of the railroad to call the present Eliot station "Waban" and the Waban station "Hillside." There is a story that the tickets and time-tables were already printed when, due to pressure brought to bear by Mr. Strong and Mr. Gould, at the last moment Hillside was changed to Waban and new printed matter gotten out at top speed. Eliot was to be called Waban in the first place because on the field adjoining the railroad was located the diamond of the Waban Baseball Club, made up of boys and men of Upper Falls and Newton Highlands." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bustello (talkcontribs) 01:36, 29 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
