The only S series on the UK register is G-BWAC, a YKS-7 with a Jacobs R-755-9 engine. CAA describe it as YKS-7 (modified).TSRL (talk) 11:46, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The page name doesn't actually make any sense as "Waco S Series" - the aircraft falling under this category are Standard Cabins, which also include aircraft with C and C-S type designators - in fact several were renamed, thus nominally falling under two different series, when in fact Wacos own internal usage was to refer to them into either Standard Cabins or Custom Cabins, and NOT 'S' series and 'C' series.

Some background is probably needed here. For most of their history, Waco used a three letter designator for each type they built. The first letter designated the engine, the second and third the wings and airframe. When Waco built their first successful Cabin biplane they gave it the type designator (ie the last character of the three character designation) 'C' meaning "Cabin". Later on, Waco created a new series of Cabin biplanes (actually sesquiplanes) which they transferred the C designator to - though now it meant "Custom". The first series of Cabin biplanes continued in production, however their designation was changed from xxC to xxC-S, then to xxS however not all of the original C series continued in production or were redesignated, thus breaking these pages into C series and S series does nothing but breed pointless confusion. Also I have to wonder why this page (of an American aircraft, used primarily in the US) is in UK english and not US english.NiD.29 (talk) 04:17, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why hasn't this been merged with Waco Standard Cabin series?

edit

Considering the discussion above, it would seem this article's content belongs in Waco Standard Cabin series. Should it be merged there?
