REMOVED - Pseudoscience and Conspiracy Theories
editOn December 7, 2019 and February 7, 2020, Burleson posted articles on his blog promoting the pseudoscience of Immanuel Velikovsky[1][2]
On May 9, 2020, Burleson posted an article on his blog promoting the Plandemic conspiracy theory.[3]
On May 23, 2020, Burleson posted an article on his blog arguing against Einstein's theory of relativity and promoting the Free energy suppression conspiracy theory.[4]
The above section of the article was added by me and then later deleted by me. This is because I have personally ended up in a dispute with Wade Burleson. Given that this is the case, I have recused myself from editing this article. --One Salient Oversight (talk) 02:35, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
SELFSOURCE
editPer WP:SELFSOURCE we should begin the process of removing all claims cited to Burleson himself or sources he substantively controls. This should include wadeburleson.org, Istoria Ministries Blog, Burleson's Facebook, and emmanuelenid.org, though there may be more. Claims cited to those sources may stay in if they are uncontroversial and non-promotional or self-serving, but even then most should go to keep usage of such sources de minimis. Whether the content sourced to Burleson himself casts him in a positive or negative light, we need to rely on secondary sources to guide us about what content is relevant and important enough to conclude. I am pinging BestOkieHistory and Okiehistory as editors who have recently been involved in edits using these sources, but I welcome input from anyone here who has thoughts on which claims should be the among the very few that stay in. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 03:29, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
I am in agreement. This will result in a large reduction of claims and content within the BLP since most of it is self-sourced. Per BLP, Okiehistory should also disclose, via the comments, that they're the BLP subject himself and refrain from further content edits. BestOkieHistory (talk) 01:19, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Okiehistory, I just placed a template at your talk page referring to our conflict of interest policy. I encourage you to respond there. As regards this page, please do not make further edits without commenting on your potential conflict of interest. If you are Wade Burleson, or someone close to him, you will still be able to request edits to this page. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 04:20, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Per comment left on my Talk (talk), Okiehistory is self-admittedly, a subordinate of the BLP himself or the BLP subject himself. I tend towards the latter since they refuse to deny they are the BLP subject themselves. BestOkieHistory (talk) 01:58, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

- We should not be trying to determine the identity of other Wikipedia users. This page if or discussion of improvements to the Wade Burleson article, so let's try and bring it on topic. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 02:02, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
Politician
editDiscussion around if Burleson qualifies as a politician. cc: User:Firefangledfeathers Removing Burleson's own claims, the Wikipedia entry on Politician states: "Politicians propose, support, and create laws". Webster's includes "conducting the business of government" or "a person experienced in the art or science of government" Burleson held a government-appointed (governor-appointed) position that was confirmed by the Oklahoma Senate. If the Secretary of State of the US, a citizen appointed by the President and confirmed by the US Senate, qualifies as a politician, so does this. Additional, the attempt to influence the electoral process via the court system ticks the ongoing activity requirements: he is not relegated to a random person screaming on a blog, but is actively involved in electoral influence within the court system. Both of these are already sourced within the BLP entry. I believe this qualifies him for the politician label. 72.198.88.242 (talk) 16:51, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- We usually use 'politician' to refer to people who make a career out of politics; in particular, it often describes people elected to office. For example, Antony Blinken, the sitting Secretary of State, is not described as a politician in the lead or body of his article. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 00:38, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
Firefangledfeathers (talk) Yet, his predecessor, Mike Pompeo is clearly described as one. 72.198.88.242 (talk) 02:08, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- He was a Representative. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 02:38, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Firefangledfeathers (talk) If "no legislatures" is the qualification, there's still a list of people identified as such, including Ben Carson 72.198.88.242 (talk) 01:21, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- He ran for elected office. I don't want this conversation to continue being you bringing up other articles and me finding the differences. I think the best value to readers will be to mention Burleson's political activities in the body of the article (as we do) and to leave 'politician' out of the lead, as I don't believe it's an accurate descriptor—and that even if it were, his political activities seem to be a minor part of his notability, based on the existing sources in the article. If we can't agree on that, we might wait for another editor to come around and weigh in. We could also seek out a WP:Third opinion. I feel solidly convinced of my position, but also feel that the issue is a minor one; I would happily cave if it ends up being 2 to 1. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 01:33, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
"his political activities seem to be a minor part of his notability" This is not true anymore. I'll be making some edits to the lead to also reflect his retired status. cc: User:Firefangledfeathers BestOkieHistory (talk) 01:07, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Subject's legal name
editI don't know how to appropriately edit this page to reflect the subject's actual, legal name, William Wade Burleson, without citing to legal documents that contain his full legal name. The subject goes by his middle name, Wade, and all news articles use his middle name when referring to him. I edited the page to include his full legal name and cited publicly recorded property and legal records, but my edit was removed as those are not appropriate sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.216.91.74 (talk) 23:19, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Continued Vandalism, BLP Subject Himself/Sock Accounts
editPer my entry on 3PSmart's user page here, it appears this user is again the BLP Subject himself using a sock account to evade Wikipedia's prior block of their account. cc: User:Firefangledfeathers BestOkieHistory (talk) 00:24, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping. I'm a bit out of the loop, but a quick glance suggests COI concerns at the very least when it comes to 3PSmart. I'll try and be more watchful of future edits. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 13:38, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
It appears K4.5x2 user page is another ban-evasion account. If this continues this article will need to be locked. User:Firefangledfeathers BestOkieHistory (talk) 00:41, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
