Fair use rationale for Image:Walker box art.jpg

edit

Image:Walker box art.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I'll review this one. Before I proceed with an in depth examination though, the development section needs to be expanded to incorporate information contained in the "Making Of" article found in Retro Gamer issue 149. Indrian (talk) 05:02, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Indrian: Thank you for accepting to review the article, and for providing the Retro Gamer feature—I was completely oblivious to its existence, and it has so much helpful information! I've incorporated information from the article. I look forward to receiving your comments. – Rhain 07:41, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Rhain:Looking good. I will complete a more formal review in the near future. Indrian (talk) 20:42, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Down to business on the formal review.

Lead

edit
  • "several different time stages" - I understand what you are trying to convey here, but this language is really awkward. Perhaps something like "stages set in multiple time periods" would work better.
  • "The game began development" - Incorrect subject of the sentence. The game did not do the development, DMA design did. So either use DMA as the subject ("DMA began development of the game") or make development the subject ("development of the game began"), whichever you prefer.
  • "The game began development after the release of Blood Money, but was scrapped in 1990 due to its demanding development. By the end of the year, development had recommenced with a redesign, inspired by sprites originally intended for Blood Money." - Lots of word repetition here. Let's introduce some variety.

Gameplay

edit
  • Walker is a horizontal side-scrolling shooter that uses 2D computer graphics - "Uses" is not a particularly good verb in this context.
  • There are several instances in this section that talk about "players" doing this or that. This implies multiple people playing the game at the same time. These should be changed to "the player" or something similar.
  • "When the mech's guns are used" - Again, used is not a good verb here. Perhaps "fired"?
  • I am not sure that the Nostalgia Nerd blog meets the requirements for a reliable self-published source, though please do correct me if I am wrong. It looks like the info taken from that source is also present in other sources, so I think it can be removed without any loss of content.

Reception

edit
  • The game's use of sound received positive reactions - "reactions" feels awkward in this context.

And that's it. We are mostly looking at slight grammatical tweaks here, so I will go ahead and place this review   On hold while those are addressed. Indrian (talk) 15:48, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the review, Indrian! I went through and addressed your issues; let me know if you have any other concerns. – Rhain 23:03, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I made a couple more language tweaks, and I think we are good to go. Well done! Indrian (talk) 15:29, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
