Attraction name
editThe Disneyland map marks the attraction as The Enchanted Tiki Room, dropping the Walt Disney's slogan. As more incentive for a name change of the page, the page is about the Tiki Rooms in Florida and Tokyo as well, and the base name of each attraction is The Enchanted Tiki Room, with or without add-ons, such as Walt Disney's, Under New Management, and Get The Fever!. --Speedway 17:22, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
- The official name of the attraction (at least at Disneyland) is Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, and even the signs put in back in March still say that, as well as the birds' dialogue. The maps don't always list an attractions full name. --Lyght 18:26, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Fritz's voice impression
editHello, all. I would like to suggest that anyone who would like to get an accurate idea of exactly who Fritz is attempting to imitate in one of the verses of "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" get some recordings of Pearl Bailey.
She is the vocalist on the soundtrack and voiced the character "Big Mama" in Disney's "The Fox and the Hound", 1981. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fox_and_the_Hound_(film)
IMHO, there is much more resemblance to her in Fritz's impression than there is to Louis Armstrong.

Fritz is imitating Jimmy Durante.

Yep, you may be correct. I do believe *one* of the birds does Durante...*maybe* Fritz, maybe not...but whoever said Fritz is doing Armstrong needs to compare to Bailey. The other cohost birds do Durante, Chevalier and Crosby. Pearl Bailey is the fourth impression, regardless of which bird is the imitator.
Disneyland Enchanted Tiki Room: Hawai'ian Lyrics as Sung by Flowers
editThe third number in the Disneyland Tiki Room show (I have no knowledge of the others) is a variation on the "Hawai'ian War Chant"(as indicated in the main entry). I recorded the Tiki Room show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g981Bpv3MRY) and formatted the lyrics as sung by the flowers in the Tiki Room. The apostrophes might not be correct Hawai'ian, however I added them where the glottal stop is sung in this version of the song. For example if I write "lai" it's sung as one syllable like "lie", and if I write "la'i" it's sung as two syllables "la" and "ee". The verse sung by the Orchid Soloist appears to be a version of the "War Chant" with words left out just to make it fit with the melody of the solo. These lyrics end when the Tikis begin to sing - I can't make out the words to the Tikis' chant.
Orchid Chorus
Tahuwa’i la a tahuwa’i wa’i la,
Ehu hene la a pili ko’o lu’a la,
Pututui lua ite to’e la,
Hanu lipo ita pa’a lai.
Orchid Soloist
Tahuwa’i la tahuwa’i wai
Hene la pili la-a-a-a
Pui lua ite toe
Hanu pa’a la’i
Bird of Paradise Flowers
Au we ta hu’a la
Au we ta hu’a la
Tahuwa’i la a tahuwa’i wa’i la,
Ehu hene la a pili ko’o lu’a la,
Pututui lua ite to’e la,
Hanu lipo ita pa’a la’i.
Tahuwa’i la a tahuwa’i wa’i la,
Ehu hene la a pili ko’o lu’a la,
Pututui lua ite to’e la,

Au we ta hu’a la. (Hu’a la)

Unsourced Comment
edit"According to a longtime operator of the Tiki Room, interviewed in 2008, the entire show is now controlled by a single laptop located in the center of the room."
This strikes me apocryphal or at the very least a casual metaphor tossed off without being intended as gospel truth; I doubt Disney controls any of their rides and attractions "by laptop". What interview? Where? I'm going to delete the line without prejudice until and unless someone can cite any reference whatsoever on this.

Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room → Enchanted Tiki Room – I'm not even sure if Walt Disney Enchanted Tiki Room is even the official name, it's definitely not the common name. Not even the Disneyland website refers to it by this full name. . JOJ Hutton 21:56, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support Actually, I'd be equally supportive of a move to Tiki Room. The current Tiki room disambiguation page looks rather forced. --BDD (talk) 15:52, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
- This is both the original title of the Disneyland attraction, and the new title of the WDW attraction. There's nothing wrong with Enchanted Tiki Room, though I think just "Tiki Room" is far too short. Powers T 19:58, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support – This seems to be the common name, provides adequate disambiguation, and avoids excessive wordiness. Further shortening to "Tiki room" does not seem like a good idea, as there are other tiki rooms (such as tiki bars) and there has been an extensive tiki culture. —BarrelProof (talk) 18:56, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Purv Pullen
editRemoved the following claim from the Soundtrack section: According to Eugene Chadbourne writing for Allmusic, "...At the same time, his Pierre the Parrot in Disneyland's Enchanted Tiki Room doesn't seem to have any relation to Pierre Salinger. It is actually the voices of the birds in the Tiki Room that represented Birdbath's proudest achievement. He was fond of telling interviewers that he had done every single bird in the place."
Every other source I've seen contradicts the claim that Pullen is the voice of Pierre; other sources for Pullen also do not give him credit for Pierre. I can't find this alleged article, which presumably should be enshrined at Allmusic; there is no bio for Pullen (Birdbath) at Allmusic. Also, I find the allusion to Pierre Salinger cryptic. Pullen apparently did provide the non-speaking bird sounds--something for which he was well-known--and I added a source for that claim. Richigi (talk) 01:59, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
Ay-yi-yi … I wish I could give you a link … but somewhere out there , online , is a newspaper article in the Vacaville Reporter ( newspaper of the small NorCal city he lived in ) , that discusses Dr.Horatio Q.Birdbath's ( A.Purvis Pullen's alias in the Spike Jones' City Slickers band. ) contributions to the "newly opened" Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. He contributed several bird calls , and was purportedly one of the main four , but , I forget which one. Pierre? ( Obviously not the German one , which is the unmistakeable Thurl. ) 75.104.163.77 (talk) 00:35, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Voices On The Patio
editIn the Anaheim version of the attraction , there are several talking statues of various gods and goddesses in the waiting area. I don't know all of the voices of the gods and goddesses , but two are very obvious! "Tongaroa" - the big tree - is voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft , and the goddess - who's name I am forgetting - that shoots fire out of her head , is June Foray. 75.104.163.77 (talk) 00:39, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
