Walter Dumaux Edmonds was born in Oneida County New York in the town of Boonville NY - actually it is Hawkinsville. He graduated from Harvard and returned home to Boonville where his first book was written - Rome Haul, (1929) which is all about the Black River Canal and the Erie Canal. All are great books. The Mohawk Valley, Erie Canal and Boonville NY are major themes of Walter Edmonds
