editAccording to my research Walter Fitz Robert was also Earl of Clare and Hertford. He descended from the Viking Rollo, First Duke of Normandy through Godfrey of Brione, Gilbert of Brione, and Richard Fitz Gilbert. The latter died in 1090 after being married to Rhoese d/o Walter Gifford also originally of Normandy who was created Baron of Gloucester by Henry I. Walter Fitz Robert's father, Robert Fitz Richard, married ,in 1112 Maude who was niece of Willliam the Conquerer and d/o Earl of Huntingdon. He secondly married in 1140 the d/o Earl of Winchester but according to birthdate and marriage dates Walter Fitz Robert's mother must have been Maude. Walter Fitz Robert's son, Robert Fitz Walter, married first Gunnora d/o Robert Valonies and his second wife was Rose.Robert F Walter's known children were: Walter who married Maude, Maude the Fair, Matilda and Christian. My genealogy data on the family continues on through 16 plus additional generations but makes very dry reading except for family. sources: Burke's Peerage

editThe group meets in DC in April of each year: The Baronial Order of Magna Charta (The Baronial Order of Magna Charta). Expect to be there. Just reminded them on FB that Robert (the son)'s sister bailed him out by putting her daughter, Alice, as hostage to King John. jmswtlk (talk) 13:30, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
