editHow can Jerry on the Job be added to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Comic_strips_started_in_the_1910s ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xuul (talk • contribs) 21:17, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Jerry on the Job was animated before 1920
editThe main page currently indicates Jerry On The Job was animated by Bray Studios, with examples attributed to 1920. I have found evidence that pushes the date to 1916.
The Washington Herald Dec/27/1916 pg 8 and Dec/28/1916 pg 9 includes the title "Jerry on a Cannibal Island" an "animated comedy by Hoban", in the list of attractions at Moore's Garden Theater.
It is not clear who produced this feature. However, the wikpedia page for Bray Studios mentions that Bray was licensed to produce Jerry On The Job films after the International Film Service studio folded in 1919, and that Jerry On The Job had been part of the IFS series. It seems likely that IFS had produced the 1916 Jerry film (but see next paragraph). However, it is not listed in the filmography on the IFS page.
A little more searching reveals a 1916 Jerry on the Job film, "Jerry Ships A Circus", at the Big Cartoon Database. Produced by Bray Studios! The release date listed there is Nov/13/1916. The Washington Evening Star Nov/27/1916 pg 5 lists this film among the features appearing at the Elite. http://www.bcdb.com/cartoon/23926-Jerry-Ships-A-CircusDiffuseGoose (talk) 01:42, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
