editCan one say this? He was servile tool of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Exactly the empty suit (or cassock) they wanted. I heard this from several people in power at the time.
He held his cards so close to his vest that the "Long Island Catholic", as faithful an organ as there ever was (more so that Pravda), couldn't even get an interview with him.
