Walter was the son of Frank (1847), himself the son of Jeremiah (1820), the son of William (1794). Alfred was the son of Henry (1832), the son of William (1794). This means that actually it was Walter's father Frank who was a cousin of Alfred and strictly speaking Walter was a first cousin once removed of Alfred. I think "cousin" is best in the article.
