The map shown here depicts the extent of the "Spanish Netherlands" between 1545 and 1585, when Spain controlled almost all of Belgium and (modern) Netherlands except for the Liege bishop.
This map is misleading and wrong in relation to this war in 1683, which is a long time after the northern Netherlands gained independence from Spain after a long long war, by the time of this war of Louis XIV against spain, "spanish netherlands" was only in the southern part ( Belgium, approximately ).Eregli bob (talk) 03:47, 1 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
