DAB vs. article
edit@JHunterJ: This article is a list of translations of an Arabic word, and nothing more. But WP is not a dictionary, and I don't see how this article would be expanded to be encyclopedic. Not even the Encyclopedia of Islam, which lists concepts under their Arabic names, includes an article on warraq.
It's also not clear what it means by "traditional and Islamic contexts". Traditional to whom? To Arabic-speakers? Well, sure, Arabic speakers traditionally use Arabic words. Islamic contexts? Well, Arabic is the liturgical language of Islam. We don't have articles for other Arabic words that are used much more in Arabic and Muslim contexts, like kitab 'book', which is definitely significant in Islam in phrases like Umm al-Kitab 'mother of the Book'.
As for mentioning Ibn Warraq, there is already an article about a person of that name, which discusses the use of the name as a pseudonym. A See also or a disambiguation note seems sufficient for that. --Macrakis (talk) 13:29, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- Quite possibly. But since both this page and the disambiguation page have been in existence for some time, and since just pointing this at the disambiguation page is WP:MALPLACED, and since the disambiguation page had additional information beyond the navigational function, it seems prudent to discuss a change from this primary topic (and possibly deleting it) to no primary topic (by moving the disambiguation page here) or change in primary topic to the surname list. -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:42, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- OK, I requested a move at Warraq (disambiguation). --Macrakis (talk) 15:18, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
