119 Water Street project
editHello Warren Water Street neighbors.
So let me say what happened at the Town Meeting tonight. Just in case you missed it. The meeting opened with heavy commentary on the subject of affordable housing. The speaker; Bob went in-depth on the criteria surrounding affordability. After hammering it home the; developers Attorney gave his pitch for the project and highlighted all the niceties we the people of Warren will experience once the project is approved by the Town Council. Adding; With variances for nine items listed in the power point presentation; his client can move forward. Do you see what happened? This is courtroom theater. First we go down the rabbit hole of affordable housing. Second we play the sympathy card for the historic houses to be razed. They are beyond repair and must go!
Once the people express their concerns the Attorneys and the Developer come back with; We hear the people of Warren and understand and will take their views under advisement. In response they come back with a counteroffer. Maybe they agree the building is too tall and will accept the height restrictions. This will not only address that concern but it will also resolve the parking variance request. Fewer apartments fewer parking spots needed. I believe this was the goal all along and the supporting theatrics are not by chance. So maybe this will address the concerns of 50% of the people but it will not change the hearts of the people who Love and care about the Historic District. 2600:8805:9981:5000:90B:6EFA:294B:6C1A (talk) 01:58, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
